When the snow doesn't come, make snowballs instead 12.30.11

Snowball reprise.  It's always good to have some snacks on New Year's Eve.   Here's the original recipe.

1 c butter
1/2 c powdered sugar (2 oz)
1 t vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour (11 oz)
3/4 c finely chopped walnuts
1/4 t salt

I omitted the walnuts and used 3/4 t vanilla with 1/4 t lemon.  It ads a little bit of freshness and lemon aroma on your tongue when you first bite into them.  I used 11 oz of flour, but it wasn't enough.  The dough was still very sticky, so I added another 2 oz or so.  Since walnuts absorb water, maybe it was the omission of the walnuts that made the dough sticky.  Although I thought the effect of nuts in dough was only relevent after you baked it.  In other words, the nuts absorb water during baking, not before.
